Who is Blossman? Getahun Bogale
Getahun Bogale just celebrated his 10-year work anniversary with Blossman Gas in Gainesville, GA. At 51, he reflects on his path to becoming a gas salesman and his hopes for the future.
Ten years ago, a drive past a hiring sign at Blossman Gas led to a life-changing decision. “I wasn’t happy being away from family for 3-4 weeks at a time with my previous job as a long-haul truck driver,” Getahun explained. The switch to a local job allowed him to spend more time with his family and introduced him to an industry where he found a sense of belonging.
At first, it was the need for a local job that brought him to Blossman, but it was the people and benefits that convinced him to stay. “Everyone was so nice to me,” he says. “The job has great benefits, and that has encouraged me to stick around.” Blossman’s company culture has been a significant influence, offering an environment when he feels supported both professionally and personally.
Over the past decade, Getahun has witnessed advancements in the gas and energy industry, particularly in Telemetry systems. “Before, we’d sometimes drive out to check a customer’s tank for no reason,” he explains. “Now, we only go when we know the tank needs filling. It’s a big help.”
Despite challenges like the busy winter season and truck breakdowns, Getahun has embraced the teamwork and problem-solving that comes with the job. “It can get stressful, but we all pitch in,” he says.
Getahun’s favorite part of the job is getting to interact with customers. “Hearing someone say hello and ask ‘how are you?’ makes everyone feel good,” he shared. For him, helping and educating people are the most rewarding parts of his job.

Originally form Ethiopia, Getahun moved to the United States 15 years ago and has since become a valued member of the Gainesville community. He looks forward to growing further in his role, with hopes of one day becoming a Master service Technician. For now, he plans to continue as a gas salesman. He enjoys the challenges and rewards of his role but remains open to new opportunities within the company.
Looking back, Getahun admits he initially had concerns about the dangers of working with gas. “I always thought it was dangerous, but I quickly learned there were many safety measures in place,” he says.
His advice for anyone considering a career in the energy industry is simple: “This is a good place to work and a nice job. If you commit yourself, you can see a lot of success and be happy.” Outside of work, Getahun enjoys playing tennis and spending time at local parks with friends. As Getahun reflected on the past decade, he made it clear that Blossman Gas is a place where he can continue to grow and make a difference in the community.
