Asheville Tourists and Blossman Gas Team Up for Summer Fun
Blossman Gas in Asheville is proud to be the official Propane Gas Company of the Asheville Tourists for the 2018 season. In celebration, Blossman Gas’ President & CEO Stuart Weidie will be throwing the first pitch this Friday, May 11th. The relationship between baseball and Blossman comes easily as Stuart Weidie played for the Boston Red Sox baseball organization for five years before entering the Blossman Gas Management Training Program. Weidie, recently inducted to the Ocean Springs Sports Hall of Fame in Mississippi where he grew up, is excited for this opportunity to return to the field. Weidie says, “Though my work is far removed from the baseball field these days, I still live by the lessons taught by the game: hard work, determination, and most importantly that at the end of the day, work should be fun.” In addition to his work with Blossman Gas, Weidie is involved with several local charity and nonprofit boards including serving as Chairman of the ENKA Youth Sports Organization Board which is currently developing the Bob Lewis Park in Enka – a sports complex that will be open to both local and traveling youth baseball teams.
Blossman Gas is sponsoring several evenings and events throughout the 2018 Asheville Tourist season including $1 Dog Nights, grill giveaways, and propane for the sausage shack. The company will also donate $5 for every strikeout recorded by a Tourists pitcher at home to Meals on Wheel of Asheville-Buncombe County which provides hot, nutritious meals to the elderly homebound, thus allowing them to live in their own homes, among familiar surroundings and maintain their dignity while aging.
