Who is Blossman: Meet Megan Dawkins

After graduating from high school, Megan Dawkins had exciting plans for life after school. She moved to Orlando to work for Walt Disney World Resort. “It was a desire I had throughout growing up. It’s a fun experience to look back on, however, I soon found out that it was not meant for me long-term,” says Megan.

After completing her time at Disney, Megan moved back to the region she grew up in to begin college at South Alabama University. She studied health informatics earning her bachelor’s degree in May of 2015. “Health informatics was a good path for me. At the time, I had an interest in healthcare and computer systems. I considered applying to PA programs before graduating, however, I was more drawn to the IT portion of my studies.”

Growing up in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, where Blossman Gas was founded in 1951, Megan was already familiar with Blossman Gas and interested in potential opportunities within the company. After reaching out about employment possibilities, Megan connected with Todd Stinnette, IT Manager at Blossman Gas. Megan accepted an internship position within the IT department at Blossman Gas in May of 2017. After showing promise with the projects given to her during the internship, she was hired as a full-time employee at the start of 2018. Megan’s primary responsibilities include working with complex data sets and reporting for all departments company-wide.

“Database Administration was my favorite class at South Alabama. I learned valuable lessons in the class that have carried over to what I do day-to-day for the company,” says Megan. “Our IT department is filled with great employees who I really enjoy working alongside. Colin Miner [Application Developer for Blossman Gas] has been patient with me as I continue to expand my knowledge and grow professionally within the IT department. I look forward to seeing what the future will bring at Blossman Gas.”
