Who is Blossman: Meet Shenika Abram
Life Before Blossman
Growing up in a military family, Shenika Abram, Branch Administrator for the Blossman Gas store in Warrenton, VA, became accustomed at an early age to moving to different places. “My childhood actually began in Korea, which was where my dad was stationed at that time with the Army. We moved to Maryland in 1982,” says Abram. Shenika graduated from Meade High School in Ft. Meade, MD, and was faced with the decision of what to do next in life.
“I almost enrolled in the military. I thought for the longest time that would be my future,” says Abram. She decided to move to Texas, where she worked a variety of administration jobs. Shenika moved back to Maryland in 2016, which was when she first became interested in becoming a part of the Blossman team. “There was an opening for the store that was in Laurel, MD, at the time. After doing my research on the company, I knew it would be a good fit for me.”
Growing with Blossman
The store in Laurel, MD, closed shortly after Shenika came on board. “My manager [Paul Perkins] told me that we would be opening another store soon and wanted me to come back when the time came. I did, however, have to find another position to stay afloat.” Blossman Gas opened up a store in Warrenton, VA, in 2017, and reached out to Shenika during the process of getting the store ready to open. “There was a lot to consider at the time. I knew my spouse and I would have to relocate to Virginia because the commute from Maryland would be too long. At the end of the day, I wanted to stay a part of the Blossman family.”
When asked about what a typical work day looks like for her, Shenika explained it’s always different. “I would say the one constant in working as an administrator is customer interaction. Whether it is in the store, over the phone, or online, we are always trying to make sure they understand the services we can provide for them. When I first came on board in Warrenton, I was mainly assigned to assisting our commercial customers. Now, I have transitioned into doing more work for our residential customers, which I really enjoy. I make sure they are setup for whatever appliance the home needs and schedule installations for our customers.”
Continued Commitment
When asked what she hopes for her future with Blossman Gas, Abram says, “I told Paul when he first interviewed me that I planned to have his position one day. I hope to have an opportunity in a management or analyst position for the company. Blossman is a great organization to be a part of, I look forward to growing with the company.”
