Today is Autogas Day!

It’s a day to highlight the world’s most popular alternative fuel – propane autogas. What makes it so popular? The answer is simple. It drastically reduces harmful emissions and is cost efficient. In fact, Blossman Gas works with many small and large fleets across the Southeast that have adopted this clean-burning alternative fuel because of its many benefits. Here are a few of the top reasons our customers joined the autogas movement.

Autogas is CLEAN

Also known as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), autogas is the common name for when propane is used as a fuel for an on-road vehicle. Autogas is composed of three parts carbon and eight parts hydrogen making it a highly efficient, low carbon producing fuel. When compared to gasoline or diesel, autogas substantially reduces greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen oxide as well as non-regulated emissions including aromatic hydrocarbons, benzene, and sulfur dioxide. Converting your vehicles means your fleet will be green.

Autogas is SAFE

Autogas is a nontoxic, non-carcinogenic, noncorrosive fuel. It poses no hazard to groundwater, surface water, or soil. Given its state as a gas, it does not spill, pool, or leave a residue. Additionally, autogas tanks are 20 times as puncture-resistant as gasoline tanks and can withstand 4 times the pressure.

Autogas is AVAILABLE

99% of our nation’s propane autogas is produced in North America, so using autogas means reducing our dependence on foreign oil.  With more than 2,500 autogas fueling stations already in place throughout the U.S., and with onsite fueling technology, autogas is a viable and readily available fuel.

Autogas is PROVEN

From light- and medium-duty vehicles to buses, propane autogas fleet vehicles are trusted to get the job done. These vehicles feature proven technology that’s trusted by fleets across the U.S.
