Caramel Apple Recipe
Caramel Apple Ingredients
8 large apples (our favorite are Honeycrisp apples)
8 Popsicle sticks
3 Tablespoons of heavy cream
4 (5 oz.) bags of soft caramels
4 Butterfingers candy bars, coarsely crushed (or other assorted toppings you prefer)
Caramel Apple Directions
In a large saucepan, boil water on your gas range cook top. Boil apples for a few seconds to remove wax from the peels. Dry with paper towels and set aside. Once cool, insert a Popsicle stick firmly into the bottom of each apple.
Drain water from saucepan. Over medium-low heat, add caramels and heavy cream, stirring frequently. Once the mixture is a smooth consistency, reduce heat to low.
Dip each of the cleaned apples into the caramel mixture allowing any excess to shake off. Roll the apples in the crushed Butterfingers or your preferred toppings.
Place the apples on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Refrigerate for 15 minutes or until the caramel has become firm.
