Blossman Gas Helps to Keep Residents Warm with Contribution to Five North Carolina County’s Low Income Energy Assistance Programs

February 10, 2014- Swannanoa, NC - Blossman Propane Gas, Appliance and Service based in Ocean Springs, MS, providing comfort to families throughout the Southeast U.S. for more than 60 years, has donated $50,000 in total to Swain, Avery, Haywood and Jackson County Departments of Social Services and to Eblen Charities in Buncombe County, earmarked for their Low Income Energy Assistance Programs (LIEAP). In total, Blossman Gas contributed $200,000 to four states experiencing the greatest heating shortages.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) helps keep families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist families with energy costs. LIEAP provides federally funded assistance in managing costs associated with: home energy bills, energy crises and weatherization and energy-related minor home repairs.

“Due to higher energy costs, which have been compounded by severe propane supply challenges in some parts of the U.S, we understand that there are many people in North Carolina who are suffering with the cold weather conditions,” said Stuart Weidie, President and CEO of Blossman Gas. "We are hearing about broken heaters, job cut backs and paychecks that don’t cover heating costs that may be running unusually high at this time of year. We are hoping this contribution will help families who are struggling with the cost of heating this year. Through this donation to LIEAP we hope to alleviate potential life-threatening energy-related emergencies or needed repairs during this prolonged cold snap.”

Blossman Gas is a family and employee owned company based on the philosophy of quality customer service. The company, along with each of its 70 stores, takes pride in community philanthropy and involvement. For more information contact
