The Blossman Gas store located in Asheville, NC recently held a Re-Grand Opening of its branch with the Blossman BBQ & Country Fest event! The day featured live bluegrass music, BBQ, and a visit from 99.9 KISS Country (the local country music station). Blossman’s Tiny House - the first of its kind All-Propane Green Home - was showcased at this event, which also hosted a “Touch a Truck” display of vehicles that run on propane autogas. Meals on Wheels of Western North Carolina/ Buncombe County was the charity partner, with 15% of food proceeds going to the organization.

“Here at Blossman Gas, we feel a strong connection to Meals on Wheels of Asheville-Buncombe County,” said David Lipe, branch manager. “Our Blossman culture supports giving to those in our community who are in need of propane for heating, cooking and life-support in extraordinary situations.”

The 5000 sq. ft. state-of-the art retail store will produce all of its power on-site -- 40% from solar and 60% from a propane powered micro CHP (Combined Heat and Power) generation system.  The emissions reductions will be over 68%. Being powered by on-site power generation systems versus conventional centralized systems, this building is constructed as “a building of the future.”

The Blossman Gas Appliance & Hearth Store moved from the Candler location on Smokey Park Highway to this new 5,000 sq. ft. state-of-the art retail facility, which will be a shared space with the world class Autogas Research & Technology Center, also opening that weekend.

The branch first opened in April, 1990 on Smokey Park Highway in Candler with no employees and no customers. Currently the branch has 16 employees and over 4,600 customers!   David Lipe has been the branch manager for 8 years, but before him, Blossman Gas CEO Stuart Weidie was Asheville Branch Manager in the early 1990s!   The branch enjoys staying involved in their community, but some of the main involvements by the branch include the Asheville Tourists, Manna Foodbank, and Meals on Wheels.

When speaking on the move, David Lipe added, “The move from Candler to the new store is bitter sweet. The branch had been in the Candler area for about 20 years, and I’m sure I will still try to drive there one morning! However, the new physical location is going to bring in a lot of new opportunities. We are now located more in the center of the area we serve, and hope to attract customers into our showroom that would not have driven to Candler before, as well as people that will be brand new to Blossman Gas. I feel blessed and honored to have been given the keys to this beautiful building. The expectations are going to be high, but I know the Team and I will take advantage of every opportunity that presents themselves and plan to make a few of our own.”
