Blossman Gas Heats Homes and Supports Homeless Shelter and Local Food Banks

Three Blossman Gas stores are supporting local area food banks and a homeless shelter in the month of December with a propane donation program. Partial proceeds of every gallon of propane gas sold from December 1 through December 31 will go to MANNA FoodBank in Asheville, NC, FeedMore (Central Virginia Food Bank) in Richmond, VA, and The Emmaus Shelter in LaGrange, GA.

The Blossman donation programs going to the local area food banks are called “Heat for Hunger” and those benefitting homeless shelters are called “Heat for the Homeless.”

David Lipe, manager of the Asheville, NC store notes, “ 1 in 4 people in Western North Carolina do not know where their next meal will come from, and a lot of these people are children. The Blossman Gas Family wants to help in this way, with “Heat for Hunger.” But remember, hunger is not just during the holidays. This happens every day in our community but a lot of people only think of this situation during this time of the year.”

MANNA FoodBank collects, stores, warehouses and distributes food to MANNA accredited non-profits throughout 16 counties in Western NC. For more information visit http://www.mannafoodbank.org

Mike Crocker, manager of the Powhatan, VA store says, “There are a more than 200,000 neighbors in our region that aren’t blessed with enough food to eat or money to heat their homes. We see this every day at Blossman, not just at holiday times, and we want to do something to help. With your support for the Heat for Hunger program, we can continue to help children grow strong in mind and body, bring security to families, and provide independence for seniors to continue to live in dignity and good health.”

FeedMore is Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief leader made up of programs like the Central Virginia Food Bank, Meals on Wheels Serving Central Virginia, the after school Kids Café and weekend BackPack program. Working together to efficiently and effectively fight hunger, FeedMore’s comprehensive programs focus on three key areas: feeding children, feeding families and feeding seniors. They provide a Day Center and night shelter to help women and their families in need. Homelessness doesn't discriminate.
