Blossman Gas donates funds to Mississippi, 3 other states for low income energy assistance

OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi -- Blossman Propane Gas, Appliance and Service based in Ocean Springs has donated $50,000 to Mississippi’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program, accordinig to a company news release.

In total, Blossman Gas contributed $200,000 to four states experiencing the greatest heating shortages.

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is administered by the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Division of Community Services. It helps keep families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist families with energy costs.

LIHEAP provides federally funded assistance in managing costs associated with: home energy bills, energy crises and weatherization and energy-related minor home repairs.

“Due to higher energy costs, which have been compounded by severe propane supply challenges in some parts of the U.S, we understand that there are many people inMississippi who are suffering with the cold weather conditions,” said Stuart Weidie, President and CEO of Blossman Gas.

"We are hearing about broken heaters, job cut backs, paychecks that don’t cover heating costs that may be running unusually high at this time of year. We are hoping this contribution will help families who are struggling with the cost of heating this year. Through this donation to LIHEAP we hope to alleviate potential life-threatening energy-related emergencies or needed repairs during this prolonged cold snap.
